Teaching a child the Act of Contrition for kids is one of the most important things you can do as a Catholic parent. It teaches children that sin offends God and we should constantly seek to reconcile ourselves to God by admitting we have done wrong and asking for forgiveness.
The act of contrition for kids should be said as part of their daily routine of prayers. Once you instill in them a love of prayer it will come naturally to them. Teach each verse of the prayer separately as younger children may have difficulty at first memorizing the prayer.
Establish a routine time for saying the prayer. You can have children say it as a morning routine prayer or a nightly routine of prayers.
